Combustion characteristics: It burns relatively slowly and can continue to burn even after leaving the fire. The flame is yellow and emits a large amount of black smoke and smoke. During combustion, the plastic softens and burns without any molten droplets.

 

ABS performance: ABS is mainly produced due to poor surface gloss of HIPS. In addition to impact strength, further research is conducted to identify materials with excellent overall performance due to poor mechanical properties.

 

ABS is a ternary copolymer with excellent comprehensive performance; Acrylonitrile gives it good resistance to chemical corrosion and surface hardness; Butadiene gives it good toughness and impact resistance; Styrene gives it good rigidity and fluidity, and makes it easy to print and dye.

 

Mechanical properties of ABS: tensile strength, moderate. The impact strength is very good and does not rapidly decrease at low temperatures.

 

Advantages of ABS: Due to its ternary copolymer, there are significant differences in its performance due to the different components. Generally speaking, ABS has good luster, hardness, toughness, rigidity, and moderate mechanical properties, making it a good shell material. It is easy to print and has surface treatments such as electroplating. It also has good low-temperature impact performance and stable size. ABS can withstand the erosion of water, inorganic acids, alkalis, and salts. But it is not resistant to organic solvents.

 

Disadvantages of ABS: ABS is susceptible to stress cracking caused by solvents. ABS has poor weather resistance and is susceptible to sunlight, causing discoloration and becoming brittle. High temperatures are prone to deformation, such as 100 ℃.

 

Application of ABS: Due to its excellent comprehensive mechanical properties, good surface gloss, electroplated metalization treatment, and easy printing, it is particularly suitable for the housing of writer's electrical appliances and various products. Make some non load bearing structural components.

 

ABS injection molding performance: Generally, the melting point of ABS is around 170 ℃, and the decomposition temperature is 260 ℃, the adjustable range of injection temperature is relatively large. When injection molding, the general operating temperature is between 180 ℃ and 240 ℃; Due to the presence of rubber components, it absorbs a small amount of water. During production, it needs to be dried and can be dried at a temperature of 80-90 ℃ for 1-2 hours, meanwhile, due to the presence of rubber components and poor thermal stability, it is relatively easy to decompose. During injection molding, the raw materials should not stay in the barrel for too long, the viscosity of the melt is higher than that of PS, but the sprue and runner are average and can also fill the product; The product is prone to static electricity and the surface is prone to dust absorption. The shrinkage rate is 5 ‰, the overflow value is 0.05mm.
