The measurement methods of electroplating layer thickness include destructive detection methods and non-destructive detection methods. Among them, there are many destructive detection methods such as droplet method, liquid flow method, dissolution method, electrostatic method and metallographic microscopy method. Non-destructive detection methods include magnetic method, eddy current method, β-ray backscattering method, light section microscopy method, etc.

Except for the average thickness of the coating, which is measured by the dissolution method, most of the others are the local thickness of the coating. Therefore, when measuring, at least three thicknesses should be measured at representative locations, and the average value should be calculated as the thickness measurement result.
