Defects in stamping parts and preventive measures

January 22, 2024

Reasons for burrs on stamping parts:

1. The punching gap is too large, too small, or uneven.

2. The cutting edge of the working part of the die becomes blunt.

3. Due to long-term vibration and impact, the centerline of the convex and concave molds changes, and the axis does not coincide, resulting in single-sided burrs.

Measures:

1. Ensure the machining accuracy and assembly quality of the convex and concave molds, ensure the verticality of the convex molds, withstand lateral pressure, and ensure that the entire punching die has sufficient rigidity.

2. When installing the convex mold, it is necessary to ensure the correct gap between the convex and concave molds and ensure that the convex and concave molds are firmly installed on the mold fixing plate. The end faces of the upper and lower molds should be parallel to the workbench of the press machine.

3. It is required that the press has good rigidity, small elastic deformation, high precision of the track, and high parallelism between the pad and the slider.

4. It is required that the pressure machine has sufficient punching force.

5. The allowable height of burrs on the shear section of the punched part.

    New trial mold burr height ≤ 0.015 ≤ 0.02 ≤ 0.03 ≤ 0.04 ≤ 0.05

    The allowable burr height during production is ≤ 0.05 ≤ 0.08 ≤ 0.10 ≤ 0.13 ≤ 0.15
